Q: What kind of people come to your shows?

A: That depends entirely on the place where we are doing the show. They all have a good mixture of people. Some places are more city, country, younger, older, white collar, blue collar and so on. Why not try as many karaoke bars as you can find and see which ones you feel the most comfortable with.

Q: Do you get good singers or bad singers?

A: Both. It's more about having fun. We want happy people at our shows!

Q: How's your sound quality?

A: We use only top tier electronics and only JBL or Electro-Voice speakers. We never play compressed (computer) files. All songs are in full WAV format. You can hear the difference in clarity!

Q: Do you have wireless microphones?

A: Yes we do.

Q: Do you have a good selection?

A: Absolutely! If you are a younger person, you'll probably be happy to know that we have shows which feature all the latest hits on the radio which are licensed for karaoke. If you enjoy "hanging out" with a more mature crowd, we have a show with thousands of oldies. Over 100 songs each by big hit makers such as Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. We'll never forget our Country fans. They helped us get this whole thing started. Most Dream KJs have all the latest country hits and thousands of older ones too.

Q: Do you have karaoke en Español?

A: Yes we do, but only where it is welcome. It's up to our customers to decide what's appropriate at their establishment. I’ve also been to a couple bars and private functions where they didn’t want karaoke in English.

Q: What are your song books like?

A: Well organized, colorful, easy to use and usually there's more than enough to go around.

Q: Okay, I'm here. When am I up?

A: This is absolutely the most common question we are asked at a show. We treat everyone as equally as humanly possible. The average song is about 3 1/2 minutes. It takes about 30 seconds to change singers. If you multiply the number of singers by 4 minutes, you will get the approximate rotation time (10 singers=40 minutes etc.). We visit other karaoke nights and wait to sing just like you do. We feel your pain when there's a long wait. Thank you for your patience. We'll get you up as soon as possible!

Q: Do you really treat everyone equal?

A: Our singers are very important to us. We always do our best but cooperate with management guidelines. For example, some places hire us to do a fast paced show, aimed at young people. There it might take awhile to put up your slow Michael Bolton tune. At the Elks lodge, we might put a Michael Bolton song up right away, but a Pantera request would be inappropriate. Family restaurants don't want songs laced with curse words. Some clubs expect us to give better service to their biggest spenders. Some require purchase of at least one food or drink item. Within the framework we were given, we'll do the best we possibly can for you.

Q: I don't see my favorite song in your book.

A: Probably 98% of the time we hear this, the person is not looking in the right place. Please just ask your KJ. We will be happy to help you find it. Also, our KJ's have been instructed to tell us when singers ask for songs we don't have. That way we can order tunes that people want. Lots of songs have yet to become available on karaoke at all. We often tell our suppliers which ones people are requesting and sometimes it pays off. We listen to the popular radio stations to discover new hits and want to know which ones people are interested in singing. Again, we appreciate it when you tell us.

Q: My song isn't available on karaoke at all. Why not?

A: If it's not on karaoke at all, there's two possible reasons: 1. All successful song writers have a publishing company. It's their job to make as much money as possible from each tune. Sometimes they hold out for so much money that a karaoke manufacturer cannot possibly record it and make a profit. This certainly doesn't do the song writers any good. Zero royalties from the karaoke industry is probably not their goal. Everyone loses here! 2. The other possible reason is no karaoke manufacturer feels the song is popular enough with the nation-wide general public to sell a large number of CD's. We all hope our efforts will be financially rewarding.

Q: I've been waiting to sing. That guy has been up there twice already.

A: Most KJs use this method: Each singer gets one turn per rotation. You can also assist another singer with their turn (duet) once per rotation. You can do two assists if you have no turn. Twice per round is the total entertaining limit. This is as fair as we can possibly make it. If it's a good night, someone will probably ask you to sing with them.

Q: I was waiting to sing. A hot chick came in and the KJ put her up right away.

A: Sorry...that must have been Bob's show. We asked him not to do that anymore. We also asked him to stop giving those Mardi Gras beads to ladies who bare their breasts. He has promised that he will at least try to exercise more self control from now on.
