I love (and sing) all types of music. From rhythm and blues to country, pop and rock, there’s almost nowhere I’m afraid to go when it comes to variety. This is helpful in my work as a K.J. because when we are able to attract people from all walks of life, more singers come to the show and there ends up being a least a song or two that satisfies the musical tastes of just about everyone in the audience too. The result is usually a really successful karaoke night.

   A good show isn’t only about the singing. It’s important that it be fun too. I always try to keep it on the light side by adding a little comedy and clowning around to the mix. Some singer’s are pretty serious about what they do and the humor is because most people go to a club hoping to have a good time. I always try to give them one.

   About six years ago I made the transition from karaoke singer to karaoke host. It’s really wonderful to do something you enjoy and actually get paid for having fun. My first job was at a place known as Frank’s Bar and Grill in Riverside (it’s currently named Duke’s). I’ve now entertained at several venues in the area plus parties and private functions too.

   I’m known for having a good following and I often exchange phone numbers with my singers. This practice is very helpful because I frequently get calls or texts from people asking “Where are you tonight” and I can send them text messages when I start at a new location.
